POLYPROPYLENE DREAMS
Written and directed by Christian Taylor & Briony Farrell in response to the provocation "climate emergency"- ArtsPlay Victoria 2021
This Friday is sleepover night and May has a plan. Her best mate Jazz can’t sleep. There’s a grumbly trash creature living under his bed who keeps waking him up at night. It’s been taking him on midnight walks through skyscrapers in the clouds, and forests made of black diamonds.
What’s it trying to tell him? Jasper’s mum says not to worry, but at school Mr. Carmichael keeps talking about climate change. He says they need to recycle and that they shouldn’t waste water. They already do all this, but it just keeps getting hotter. Armed with cheesesticks and lightsabers, they dive into the magical world of Jasper’s dreams to track the creature down.
Co-written and co-designed by kids from our Dreaming and Making workshops, Polypropylene Dreams explores our deepest worries and hopes for the future of the environment. How can we look after ourselves whilst also taking care of the planet?
Are you ready for a monster hunt?
